Linen has been know since early antiquity and is thus the oldest textile fiber :

The first discovers of its use have been dated as far back as 7000 BC.

In Egyptian graves mummies have been found wrapped in linen cloths, Which proves that this fiber was already known for its noble virtues and solidity 7000 years before our time.

Then the Phoenicians, merchants used to buy linen in Egypt in order to export it to England and thus was the fiber introduced to the European continent.

Then in the 19th century the entire textile production and especially the linen manufacture was industrialized.

New spinning and weaving processes were introduced....
